This form is used to collect the information needed to authorize automatic payments for your property tax. By completing the form, you agree to allow the Government of New Brunswick to withdraw your payments directly from your bank account on the scheduled dates.
Cancelling this authorization
To cancel, you need to notify the Government of New Brunswick in writing by mail or email, at least 10 days before the next withdrawal date.
Updating your bank account information
If your bank account information changes, you must let the Government of New Brunswick know in writing by mail or email at least 2 weeks before your next payment withdrawal date.
Failed payments and service charges
If a payment from your account is returned, the missed payment will be added to your next monthly payment. You won't receive advance notice of the amount of your next payment in this situation.
Make sure your bank account's transaction limit is high enough for the payment amount.
If a payment fails a $25.00 service charge will be applied.
If two payments in a row fail, your enrolment in the Equalized Payment Plan (EPP) will be cancelled. In this case, your full property tax balance will become due immediately, with penalties possibly being applied.
Your rights
You have specific rights if a payment doesn't follow the terms of this agreement. For example, you can request a reimbursement if a payment wasn't authorized or doesn't follow the Equalized Payment Plan (EPP). For more information about your rights, you can contact your financial institution or visit www.payments.ca.
